On December 6th, the Vice-Chancellor Sir Alan Langlands, Pro-Vice Chancellor Haisui Yu, Professor Roger Halson of the School of Law, the Senior Official of the China International Office Julia Wang, and the China Partnership Manager Lulu Pan of the University of Leeds visited Changning Campus. ECUPL’s President Ye Qing, Vice President Chen Jingying, Acting Associate Dean of the School of Economic Law Qian Yulin, and the Deputy Director of the International Exchange Center Lai Jinsheng held talks with each other.
Ye Qing extended a warm welcome to the Vice-Chancellor and his delegation. He introduced ECUPL, and the overall style and history of the famous former St John’s University buildings that form part of ECUPL’s Changning Campus. He then spoke about how ECUPL and the University of Leeds have been cooperating for a long time, in multi-leveled and multi-dimensional ways. The two sides have already carried out various kinds of cooperation, including “2+2”, “3+1”, student exchanges and academic cooperation in five colleges, involving 15 subjects, and this kind of close cooperation is expected to continue and deepen further in the future.
Sir Alan Langlands thanked ECUPL for its warm reception. He fully agreed that the relationship between the University of Leeds and ECUPL is close and brings many benefits. With the development of the East Asia Center of the University of Leeds, cooperation between the two universities has bright prospects. The Sino-British Business Law Forum, organized by the Sino-British Business Law Research Center jointly established by the two universities, has already been held four times, and the fifth meeting will be held in Shanghai next year. He sincerely invited faculty and students from both universities to attend the conference.
After the meeting, the delegation from the University of Leeds, accompanied by representatives of ECUPL, visited the Taofen Building, the cornerstone, and other sites on campus.
