From December 1 to 14, the 2019 Shanghai Winter School jointly organized by ECUPL and the Law School of the University of Sydney was held on ECUPL campus. Near forty students from the University of Sydney attended this two-week law study course.

As the earliest regular exchange program in the field of law between Chinese and Australian universities, this program has been held 26 times since 1995. Not only does it enhance students' understanding of the legal system and social culture of both countries from an international perspective, it also boosts positive communication and long-term ties between the two universities.

During the Shanghai Winter School, we provided a unique law program to suit the interests of the students from the University of Sydney, which touched upon Chinese society and culture as well as China’s existing legal system. The participants comprehensively studied Chinese criminal law, contract law, procedural law, foreign investment law, and international commercial arbitration law, among other topics. At the same time, they visited various organizations, such as the Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court and Grandall Law Firm, and exchanged thoughts and experiences with related legal practitioners during the program.

In addition to the courses, the International Exchange Center at ECUPL also arranged a variety of activities for the participants, such as city tours and acrobatic circus performances, so that they could enjoy the cultural scenery and charm of Shanghai in their spare time.
