In order to further improve the service and administration of foreign faculty, the International Exchange Center brought together foreign experts and related departments for an e-work conference at the end of the semester. The Director of the International Exchange Center - Wu Qiaofang, the Deputy Director - Ma Le, the Associate Dean of the Graduate School - Shi Hongguang, the Associate Dean of the School of Economic Law- Sun Hongtao, the Associate Dean of the School of Foreign Studies – Xu Hao, the Associate Dean of the School of Business – Li Dan, and all foreign experts attended the e-conference.
Ma Le first called the school's attention to the work of foreign experts, greeted all foreign experts, thanked these "old friends" for overcoming all their difficulties during the pandemic and completing the teaching work for this semester. Burke Moore, an American professor who has been teaching in ECUPL for one year, recalled his original intention to choose the university. He said that the year he worked in ECUPL was a busy and happy year. A good working environment, friendly working atmosphere and hard-working students are all the motives for him to continue working hard in ECUPL.
Dr. Sun Renji, a teacher in the School of Business from New Zealand, had just finished his post-doctoral research. He recounted his experience of post-doctoral research in ECUPL, and said that conducting online teaching for students had a positive effect on his research. Meanwhile, he raised his own questions about the workload and promotion of foreign experts.
Subsequently, the foreign experts conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on online teaching this semester based on their own work and teaching experience. The leaders of the participating schools (departments) in charge of foreign affairs responded one by one, and at the same time expressed gratitude for the enthusiasm and contribution of foreign experts in their teaching.
Finally, Wu Qiaofang, the Director of the International Exchange Center, made a concluding statement. She gave thanks again to all the foreign teachers for their contributions to the international development of the school and thanked them for overcoming difficulties and doing their jobs well. She also actively responded to the opinions and suggestions put forward by foreign teachers, saying that the school attaches great importance to the work and personal development of foreign teachers, and will further enhance the sense of achievement for their work by formulating relevant systems in the future.
The International Exchange Center has never forgotten its original intention to serve the international needs of ECUPL, and to keep in mind the mission of improving the ECUPL’s level of internationalization. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, IEC has been in close contact with foreign experts, and forwarded national, local and school pandemic prevention policies as well as work notices to foreign experts in a timely and accurate manner; In teaching, IEC has actively cooperated with schools (departments) to carry out support and service work for online teaching so as to keep the classes running smoothly. On behalf of the university, the International Exchange Center delivered self-protection packages to foreign experts at home and abroad twice in March and April.
In recent years, the International Exchange Center has held regular foreign expert work conferences to improve the number and quality of short-term foreign teachers while stabilizing the foundations for the long-term foreign teachers at ECUPL. Next, the International Exchange Center will cooperate with each school (department) to further promote the service and administration of foreign teachers, to earnestly strengthen the sense of belonging of foreign teachers, to enhance the breadth and depth of exchanges between Chinese and foreign faculty, and make greater contributions to the internationalization of the university.
