On Feb. 17th, opening ceremony of 2023 spring semester and freshmen orientation is held by the International School, attended by Wu Qiaofang, Director of International Exchange Center & Dean of International School and Li Yong, Deputy Director of International Exchange Center & Associate Dean of International School. Li Yong hosted the ceremony.
Wu Qiaofang expressed warm welcome to students from different countries, and expressed her earnest expectations for the students' upcoming semester in ECUPL. It is her hope that all the students can make full use of the abundance of learning resources of ECUPL to improve their knowledge and gain from their studies; and that they can make more friends and gain a broader international perspective with openness and inclusiveness.
Various lectures were arranged for the students. Ms. Du Kexin from ECUPL's counseling office gave a lecture on “Mental Health and Illness” to help students build a bigger picture of mental health and scientifically alleviate anxiety, simultaneously better adapt to a different culture. Ms. Gong Siwen introduced ECUPL's library’s resources and services, as well as digital resources, encouraging students to make full use of the library resources to promote their study and research. And finally the safety lecture, through a series of examples of typical safety accidents, students are more ware of the importance of checking erroneous ideas at the outset and prevent safety risks to the greatest degree.
Students visited the History Museum of ECUPL, the library and the Li Changyu Court Science Museum after the lectures. After learning the 70-year history of ECUPL, the students reflected upon the ethos of the university and strengthened their sense of honor and belonging as a ECUPLer.
23 students from 6 countries were enrolled in the International School of ECUPL in spring semester of 2023. There are currently 232 students from 42 countries on campus.
