On Nov 15, Shanghai Administration of Sports, Shanghai Sports Federation, Changning District Administration of Sports, and Department of Physical Education of ECUPL jointly held the “In Celebration of the 70-year Anniversary of ECUPL, Showing One’s Virtue Through Archery” themed entertainment shooting and archery match. 30 students from 8 countries participated in the event.
Ying Peili, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university addressed the opening ceremony, welcoming everyone at the event. To acquaint everyone with the rules, the university archery team performed first, followed by a mixed team recurve bow match by the Shanghai Archery Team, encouraging everyone to participate.
During the match, guided by professional coaches, the students took their position in order and had great experience in shooting and archery, as well as learning Chinese sports culture.
Several rounds later, three students of the International School stood out and won the fifth, seventh and ninth place in women's traditional bow.
After the match, Wu Qiaofang, Director of International Exchange Center & Dean of International School and Zhang Lijun and Li Yong, Deputy Directors of International Exchange Center & Associate Deans of International School attended the exchange meeting. They gave a warm welcome to the students, congratulating them for their outstanding results in the match and wished that they could celebrate together the founding of ECUPL in the next 5, or even 10 years.
Li Yong showed the 30 international and exchange students around the Changning campus of ECUPL to experience the historical and cultural background of the university. The students walked along the Suzhou River to find out about the historical buildings and “red” stories in the century-old campus.
This event broke the ice between the international students, welcoming them into the big family of the International School. It has also displayed the sprit of the university, greatly promoting cultural exchange.
