On May 22nd, Professor Mark Poustie, Dean of the Law School at University College Cork, Ireland, accompanied by Lillian Luo, Director of UCC’s Shanghai Office visited ECUPL. They were received cordially by Professor Wu Qiaofang, Director of International Exchange Center and Dean of International School, and Zhang Lijun, Deputy Director of International Exchange Center and Vice Dean of International School.Professor Wang Dongguang, Vice Dean of the School of Economic Law, and full-time teacher Chu Juan also attended the meeting.
The reunion after the pandemic was a resounding success, during which Professor Wu Qiaofang extended a warm welcome to Professor Poustie's visit. Professor Wu noted that the meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to review the valuable partnership and exchange information on the programs we have established. Our university welcomes the students from UCCto participate in the undergraduate programs in International Business Law and Business Chinese, as well as the LL.M. program in International Economic Law. Professor Wang Dongguang from the School of Economic Law expected to develop the academic cooperation program between faculty members and jointly organize international seminars, thereby deepening the collaboration between both universities.
During the meeting, Professor Poustie highlighted the long-standing partnership between ECUPL and UCC, particularly in the study of law. He provided insightful details about the current credit exchange program of UCC in Legal English and EU Common Law, suggesting that these two programs canserve as astepping stone for ECUPL students who aspire to pursue LL.M. in Ireland. In light of the approaching 10th anniversary of the partnership between ECUPL and UCC, Professor Poustie extended an invitation to the delegation of ECUPLto visit Ireland. This visit will allow us to reflect on the fruitfulcollaboration between our institutions, and anticipate future exchanges with more schools, such as the school of foreign affairs and law.
Having predicted the new trends and initiatives for students and faculty exchanges in the post-pandemic era, both parties agreed to sign MOA on credit exchange programs and legal English training programs. This initiativebuilds upon the renewal of framework cooperation agreement between our universities, aiming to strengthen academic cooperation and meaningful exchanges.
