Enrollment Guide

East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) and National University of Singapore (NUS) cooperated to found the Master of Laws (LL.M.) program in International Business Law, which was approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2005 (Approval No. MOE31SG1A20040519O). The program adopts the "Shanghai-Singapore" dual-city and dual-campus mode of operation, with lectures held in Singapore and Shanghai respectively, all the courses are taught in English, and the duration of the program is one year, and the LL.M. degree of National University of Singapore (NUS) is awarded to the students upon completion of the program. At present, the two universities have successfully cooperated in organizing nineteen sessions of the program, which has achieved remarkable results, with steadily improving quality of students and expanding international influence year by year.


I. Training Objectives

This program focuses on cultivating outstanding talents in foreign-related law with a broad international outlook, a systematic and solid grasp of the basic theories and fundamental knowledge of various disciplines of law at home and abroad, a mind of innovation and the ability to apply them in practice, solid skills in the application of foreign-related legal practice and an understanding of international rules, and the ability to engage in international legal affairs and to safeguard the interests of the country.


II. Curriculum

The program is taught in English and a certificate issued by the National University of Singapore (NUS) will be awarded to students who have completed the credits and passed the tests.

Length of Program:

First semester (July to December) at NUS (including one week's vacation, final exams in November and December);

The second semester (January to May of the following year) at the Changning Campus of East China University of Political Science and Law (exams in March and May).

III. Application and Admission Requirements

1. Applicants must meet one of the following conditions to apply:

(1) Have received an LL.B. degree or be a current senior majoring in law (not including law as a minor);

(2) Has obtained a master's degree in law or jurisprudence;

(3) A current LL.M. or J.M. student.

2. English Language Requirements

TOEFL 100 or IELTS 7.0 or above

Note: IELTS 6.5 and below are not eligible for this year's application requirements


IV. Tuition and Application Fees

1. The tuition fee is about 160,000 RMB;

2. The application fee is approximately RMB 500 yuan, please pay the application fee as prompted after the online application is completed.


V. Scholarships and Internships

Students who excel in their studies will have the opportunity to receive scholarship funding as well as internships at internationally recognized law firms.


VI. Online Application and Material Submission

1. Online application time:

From September 15, 2023 to October 31, 2023, 11:59 p.m. (GMT+8).

3. List of digital materials:

  1. Registration form from the online application system (signed by the applicant and submitted with a photo of the applicant’s passport); and

  2. Photocopy of passport.

  3. Notarized transcripts and translations, or transcripts and translations sealed by the university,

  4. Grade rank, cumulative grade point average (highlight highest GPA),

  5. Notarized copies of academic and degree certificates and their translations (proof of enrollment and translations sealed by the school),

  6. TOEFL or IELTS scores.

  7. Resume with photo,

  8. Two academic/professional letters of recommendation,

  9. Personal statement,

  10. Payment vouchers,

4. Digital materials submission time: from September 15, 2023 to October 31. Paper materials will not be accepted this year. Please also send the above materials to admission@ecupl.edu.cn, mail subject shall be “name + NUS program application materials”. The documents must be packaged in order. Should the applicant fail to send the required documents or submit after the deadline or fail to send the email, the application will be considered invalid.


5. If there are updated language results or other documents to be submitted after October 31, applicants may email or post them to NUS Faculty of Law by November 10. Applicants should indicate their 10-digit NUS application number in the subject of the email, e.g. 2023XXXXXX.


Note: In case of loss of any paper documents, the application materials received by the NUS application system shall prevail.


VII. Re-examination and Admission Arrangements

After the applicant submits the application materials, those who meet the requirements after review will be entered into the re-examination list. The applicant should check the mailbox in time and, after receiving the notice of re-exam, attend according to the specified time and form in the notice. The letter of intent to accept the admission will be sent out in batches starting from March 2024.
