Mongolian ForeignMinister Battsetseg Batmunkh, paid a visit to ECUPLon November 9th. She was warmly received by Professor Ye Qing, President ofECUPL, Professor Luo Peixin, Vice President of ECUPL and Professor Wu Qiaofang,Director of the International Exchange Center and Dean of the InternationalSchool. Other esteemed members of the Mongolian delegation included Mr. Д.Болд,Consul General of Mongolia in Shanghai, Mr. Г.Өлзийсайхан, Director of ForeignTrade and Economic Cooperation Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, andMr. Л.Мөнхтүшиг, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Mongolia in China.Accompanying the delegation were Mr. Wang Fukang, Ambassador of Ministry ofForeign Affairs, and Mr. Zhu Jiayi, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office ofthe Shanghai Municipal Government.
BattsetsegBatmunkh expressed her appreciation for theopportunity to visit ECUPL and for the warm reception. She pointed out thatbilateral relations between Mongolia and China had maintained a sound momentumof development. National leaders of both countries have had on-goingcommunication that leads to reaching important political consensus on promotingthe China-Mongolia comprehensive strategic partnership and jointly building acommunity of shared future. Battsetseg Batmunkh highly valued the importance ofECUPL’s contribution to foreign exchanges and cooperation, and shared the samevision as Ye Qing’s collaboration proposal, in hopes of building strongerbridges between ECUPL and Institutions of higher education in Mongolia. She also commended ECUPL for its efforts in nurturing Mongolian legaltalents. It is gratifying for her to learn that the Mongolian graduates fromECUPL are playing active role in various legal sectors in both countries.
Ye Qing said that GeneralSecretary and President of China Xi Jinping, in the congratulatory letter forthe 6th China International Import Expo, proposed the enhancement of providingpublic goods and services to be shared globally with the aim to facilitate anopen world economy and let the world benefit from win-win cooperation.Battsetseg Batmunkh’s visit to ECUPL for further discussions on strengtheningwin-win cooperation is a significant impetus for mutual understanding in thelegal civilizations between China and Mongolia. It also sows the seeds offriendship for youth exchanges between both countries. ECUPL, with law as itspillar, offers a diversity of well-structured disciplines such as economics,management, literature and engineering, and has been granted the eligibility tohost international students sponsored by the Chinese Government Scholarshipsince 2012. To date, ECUPL has cultivated a total of 17 Mongolian students,some of whom are now dedicated to serving the cause of China-Mongoliacooperation in the field of legal services. Ye Qing expressed the hope thatboth sides would become actively engaged in implementing and promoting the“Belt and Road” Initiative, working together to facilitate the deepening ofcooperation in higher education between China and Mongolia.

Following themeeting, Battsetseg Batmunkh delivered a keynote speech to facultyrepresentatives and students, themed on “Mongolia’s Foreign Policy andInternational Law”. She delved into four aspects in her speech, including theinternational environment, Mongolia’s foreign policy, Mongolia’s role in globalpeace and security development, and Mongolia’s involvement in the internationalTreaties. Professor Wu Qiaofang presided over the speech.
After the speech,Battsetseg Batmunkh and the Mongolian delegation participated in the guidedtour around the Changning campus and to the Suzhou River waterfront trail,escorted by Wang Fukang, Ambassador of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and ZhuJiayi, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai MunicipalGovernment.
