To further deepen Sino-British exchange and cooperation in higher education and promote students’ holistic development and comprehensive competencies, the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Achieve International Education Group (UK) have jointly launched the China-UK Study Abroad Pioneer Program. Under this initiative, approximately 200 UK students will be organized into full-class cohorts to undertake study-abroad programs in China between May and June 2026. Our university has been selected as one of the first ten Chinese institutions participating in the program and has developed a short-term, credit-bearing course titled “How 1.4 Billion People Live Together: Unveiling China’s Social Governance.” The course was officially unveiled at the China-UK Study Abroad Pioneer Program Launch Event held in Beijing on January 14, 2026.

Atthe launch event, Professor Luo Peixin, Vice President of our university, joined senior officials from the China Scholarship Council (CSC), Achieve International Education Group, and academic leaders from Chinese and British universities to jointly unveil the “China-UK Study Abroad Pioneer Program.” Our specially designed immersive course, “How 1.4 Billion People Live Together: Unveiling China’s Social Governance,” offers international students a dynamic alternative to conventional lectures and textbooks. Through lively, experiential learning in the streets and neighborhoods of Shanghai, students explore the ingenuity and effectiveness of China’s urban governance. Blending theory with practice, the course features field visits, interactive dialogues with local residents, and first hand insights into how governance shapes ordinary lives. Learning is facilitated through case studies, role-playing, and group discussions, supported by bilingual materials to ensure accessibility and encourage cross-cultural exchange.
Following the ceremony, Mr. Li Yong, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Center and Deputy Dean of the International School, engaged with partner institutions to further promote our universitys study-in-China programs.
