East China University of Political Science and Law Successfully Hosts the 2026 Chinese Language and Culture Winter Program with Hanyang University

From December 29, 2025 to January 23, 2026, East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL)in collaboration with Hanyang University, successfully hosted the 2026 Chinese Language and Culture WinterProgram at its Changning Campus in Shanghai. Nineteen Participants, majoring in fields such as Chinese language and literature, diplomacy, and education,engaged in this program built upon systematic Chinese language instruction and enriched by courses on Chinese legal culture and traditional cultural practices. The program aimed to enhance studentslanguage proficiency while deepening their understanding of Chinese culture and society.

 


The opening ceremony took place on December 29 at the Changning Campus. Li Yong, deputy director of International Exchange Center and vice dean of International School, attended the ceremony and delivered welcome remarks. He extended a warm welcome to the visiting faculty and students from Hanyang University, introduced the initiatives in international exchange and international Chinese language education, and expressed his best wishes for the students academic and daily life in China. Lee Ju-yeong, the delegation leader from Hanyang University, then spoke on behalf of the visiting institution, expressing sincere appreciation to ECUPL and the International Education School for their thoughtful preparation and encouraging students to make the most of this valuable opportunity for study and cultural exploration during their month-long stay in China.

 


The program curriculum was organized around two core themeslanguage learning and cultural understandingfeaturing well-structured and diverse course offerings. Chinese language classes were arranged at different proficiency levels to strengthen students integrated skills in listening, speaking,reading, and writing. Courses on Chinese legal culture, drawing on disciplinary strengths of ECUPL, introduced students to the historical development and contemporary practice of the rule of law in China. In addition, hands-on cultural activities, including traditional lacquer fan crafting and paper-cutting workshops, enabled participants to experience the richness of Chinas traditional heritage firsthand.

The closing ceremony was held on January 23 at the Changning Campus. Student representatives Kim Eung-jeol and Shin Ji-min shared reflections on theiracademic and cultural experiences in China and expressed gratitude for the thoughtfully designed curriculum and dedicated instruction. Faculty representative Hu Xinrui also delivered remarks, noting the students enthusiasm and sincerity throughout the program and emphasizing the meaningful experience of learning and growing together. All participants werethen awarded certificates of completion.


ECUPL and Hanyang University have maintained a long-standing partnership,successfully organizing multiple summer and winter programs over the years. This winter program represents another milestone in the deepening of bilateral cooperation, providing a valuable opportunity to further expand international educational collaboration and promote youth exchange between China and Korea.The upcoming summer program, scheduled for this year, is expected to offer an even wider range of courses and continue to serve as a platform for language learning and cultural exchange for more young participants from both countries.
